European Crypto Survey 2022

Cryptocurrencies and other digital assets (e.g. non-fungible tokens, NFTs) have established themselves as an alternative asset class for some time now. Today, already 10% of all Germans own cryptocurrencies, compared to 17% for shares, meaning that cryptocurrencies are far from being a niche product nowadays.

Despite this, to date only a few German financial institutions have opted for active own engagement and an offering focused on private customers. Particularly in the light of the growing uncertainty in the financial markets, brought on amongst other things by the war in Ukraine and high inflation in Germany, large parts of the EU and the USA, it’s worth asking the question regarding the investment behavior of crypto-investors – and the consequences the traditional banking world ought to draw from that.
